Water Saving Tips for Sustainable Living

Saving water has always been a big focus for those wanting to live more sustainably, but in this current climate, it’s becoming even more urgent for us to change our habits. At the time of writing this, we’ve seen multiple heat waves hit the UK and Europe, leading to droughts, wildfires, hosepipe bans and future concerns, especially with the talk of building more AI data centres that will also require tonnes of water to keep them cool. Of course, the obvious answers would be for water companies to invest in repairs, reservoirs and sewage treatments and for no more data centres to be built until we have the infrastructure to support them, but this is the modern world and money matters more than logic most of the time. So, as an individual, what can we do? What changes can we make to ease the strain on our water sources, and how can our steps make a difference? Here are a few water saving tips that will help the environment.

When you first start to make eco-friendly swaps around the home, it can often feel a bit daunting and overwhelming which is why I always suggest tackling one room at a time. I have previously shown you how to make some really amazing switches in the bathroom but another room that also uses a lot of plastic is the kitchen. Now your first thought probably goes to food packaging but this is more of a tricky area to cover due to the lack of options, so let’s firstly look at washing up products because this is an easy step thanks to brands like Seep.

As a busy household, we have been through our fair share of hallway rugs. We’ve had ones badly fray, some stain, we’ve dealt with dog wee that won’t budge, and found all tricky to clean so when I saw an advert for the washable Ruggable rug, I thought to myself, let’s give it a try. That was probably around four years ago now and so it’s about time I share our honest thoughts.

When it comes to making eco-friendly swaps around the home, I always suggest choosing one room to begin with and building on that slowly. That way, you can take your time with your changes, learn what products are available, try out a variety to see what sticks and what you love. One of the best rooms to start with is the bathroom because this is often where you’ll find the most single-use plastic and with so many reusable/sustainable/natural options now out there, you can have a lot of fun making swaps that’ll save you money, be better for your health and for the environment. Here are my 5 eco must-haves…

Why You Should Be Using Green Cleaning Products in Your Home

As somebody who loves to have a clean house, I have experience with almost all the products that are available to you in the supermarket aisle. I used to be drawn in by the ads promising easy, powerful results and was always on the lookout for the next best thing to try. What I did not realise at the time was that many of these popular household staples are packed full of ingredients that can be damaging to our health. Things like skin irritation, poor indoor air quality and even pets’ health can all be affected. Since switching to green cleaning products, I feel much happier knowing my home is a safer, healthier place for all of us.

Simple Tips For Making Your Kitchen Really Work For You

*Affiliate Links

When it comes to a house, there is one thing that I really can’t stand – a kitchen that just doesn’t work. When we first moved into our current home, the kitchen space was barely usable with few cabinets and worktops, an oven set down low, and the fridge slot in the wrong location. As soon as we could afford to make changes, we did, with my whole plan being based on how we could make this room work far better for us as a family. Now that I have a kitchen that flows, I wanted to share my tips so you can also do the same.
